2 polic incidents Do you remember that our beloved instructor has sent an experience of the student with a police officer? The similar thing happened to my husband and myself. They were two separate incidents.
My husband's case:
We have 2 cars and we both work at a same office. We usually drive Toyota Mini-Van to go to work together. One day we needed to drive separately and he was driving Honda that we don't use that often.
A police officer pulled him over and he asked DH for the license. He handed his TDL and CHL wondering what he did wrong since he was sure that he was not speeding.
PO "Did you know your inspection sticker was expired?" - the sticker was expired as January and this happened in September.
DH "Oh... I was really not aware. I can not believe I didn't."
PO going back to his car, runs DH's TDL, comming back and handing his TDL & CHL back to DH.
PO "Be careful and renew the inspection!"
No ticket.
My case:
This happened last Wednesday. I was driving Toyota Mini-Van alone this particular morning. When I made a turn, I saw a police car then I got pulled over.
Me (keeping my hands on a wheel as I was taught at the class)
PO "Do you have any idea why you were stopped?"
Me "hmm... was I speeding a little?"
PO "You were 41 (mph). Did you know here (the speed limit) was 35 (mph)?"
Me "Oh, no Sir, I was not aware."
PO "Let me see your ID."
Me (handing him TDL and CHL as I was taught at the class)
PO "Ok, you have CHL... so do you have a gun in this car?"
Me "Yes, I have a gun in there" (moving my right hand slowly from the wheel and point the middle compartment)
PO "Let me see the insurance."
Me (pointing the glove box) "I need to open the glove box but there is no gun."
PO "Ok."
Me (handing him the proof of insurance)
PO "I appreciate your honesty about the gun."
Me "I was taught at the class to do that."
PO (handing back my CHL, going back to his police car, checking my TDL)
PO (coming back from his police car, checking the back of my van - I was thinking "Now, what did I do?")
PO "You even have NRA stickers! Well, slow down."
No ticket.
By the way, both cars have a big NRA life member sticker (golden eagle) & a regular round NRA sticker on a back window, and a regular round NRA sticker on a windshield. DH's dad is a life member, and he sent us 2 life stickers when I achieved CHL.
I was so proud of being a good honest CHL holder.
